    Mars science fiction roleplay is set in the 25th century in an uncertain future where man and machine have been fused together until one is almost indistinguishable from the other.

    Where corporations make laws and the worlds divided between the rich and powerful and everyone else.

    Mars has been in the making for over four years, is hosted on four sims and has its own unique rp system that keeps track of your players growth, achievements, faction standing, credits and statistics.

  • RP & Combat

    Roleplay & Combat

    Mars offers all manner of RP as well as combat. Within Mars we have several safe zones where combat is prohibited to allow roleplayers who enjoy the freedom of distraction to play and post at their discretion. Four sims allow for plenty of combat enabled zones which allow players to traverse the Martian terrain while enabling them a sense of danger around every turn. Combat is allowed and encouraged but while it is there to enhance RP it is in no means there to replace it. An in character roleplay reason is needed to initiate combat as well as a characters consent provided you are within a safe zone. Should your character suffer an injury it is always up to the players discretion, exactly what the severity and nature of the injury to their character is. There are no forced deaths on Mars. It is always within the power of the player to decide their characters ultimate fate.

    The RP System

    Mars uses a unique rp system that has been evolving for years. It is a system that rewards roleplaying, should it be blogging or day to day rp. The system is designed to allow player characters to grow over time. We use a skill based system which was created. The system is expansive and can at times be overwhelming in its depth. We encourage players to explore our thread which elaborates a bit more on this system but also remind them that their RP is as in depth or as simple as they wish it to be.   • Getting Started

    Getting Started

    Mars is four sims large, it would probably be helpful to get to know the sims by exploring firstly. Here are a few locations to get acquainted with the sim. 
    To get into character simply build a reasonable background and jump right into RP. Eventually you might want to try out the RPA meter which is located on sim. 
    If you want to begin filling out a character sheet and added to our system you can begin at this link which has some instructions on how to do so.
    If you need additional information or help from an available staff member you can page any active player at this location.

SciFi Technology of the Future

 

The threat of bioengineered products stems from their ability to be nearly indistinguishable from human beings. while a cyborg or AI can easily be spotted under the simplest of scrutiny clones and high grade biomechs cannot and require the use of specialists with experience in this field. So the concept of protecting humans from their own creation falls into the jurisdiction of the leading company in the field of genetics and biomechanics. AGIS has proven the need for legitimate clone regulation and expressed the dangers in allowing unregulated clones to go unseen. Lower grade clones are easier to identify and hold little threat since they have no augmentations beyond standard and sometimes substandard human attributes. However high grade clones are much harder to spot even under the heaviest genetic scrutiny and these are the type of clones that pose a threat to the citizens of insilico.

Clone grades range from A-E

A - is enhanced augmentations, eye tracking with muscle coordination, enhanced reflexes, laced bones, enhanced adrenalin gland, heightened hearing, voice modulation, fiber and knitted muscles, epidermal reinforcements, shock absorption in the legs etc. If a clone of this grade chooses to not be augmented they are virtuall indestinguishable from human beings even under genetic testing.

B - is a standard clone with only moderate amount of augmentations. However they are still capable of genius level of thought but lack memory or cognitive heuristic enhancements.

C - Is substandard clone capable of only designed tasks and linear thinking patterns. Also with limited capacity to mature and grow and are usually easily identified through behavioral analysis. This models simplistic design is meant for inexpensive tasks and specialized fields of study. Capable of mimicking emotion but unable to truly feel and experience them.

D - is low grade with no true sense of individuality they have rubber or latex like skin and are incredibly cheap, constructed quickly and expendable they have no higher mental functions then than simple tasks. they are often used off world or in hazardous environments.

E -  are only sacks of genetic pool and experimentation, E grade clones serve as biochemical computer systems for storing and processing memories or for growing replacements organs or biomechanical augmentations.

clones range in price from several hundred credits to multi million dollar ones, a starter player for instance would not be able to begin backed by millions of credits and expect it to be reasonable. The purpose of this regulation is to encourage players who want to be clones to do so within the boundaries of a reasonable guideline and to discourage abuse and godmodding that is easily done using clones as a loop hole.

Players who are playing illegal clones who choose to remain in the city do so at their own risk. and it is the job of the AGIS department of genetic regulation to investigate and gather enough evidence to warrant termination of that clone model.

Certain failsafes will be implemented on the highest grade of clones such as kill switches to terminate rogue clones are forcing them to obtain special chemicals to keep their body from going into a state of shock and dying. Being an augmented clone or a biological automaton of this grade comes at a price.

lower grade clones do not have to worry about such things but suffer other restrictions such as their body rejecting cybeware and being easily identified as a clone under general genetic analysis.

The mental and physical aptitude range from a-e and follow the same lines as clone grades and is used in AGIS genetic rating systems. We encourage players who want to play clones to allow us to help you IC/OOCly. Any questions please contact me or a GM.

Modern biotechnology could not exist without nano technology which aids in the assistance of genetic augmentations. On rare occasions there are complications in such proceedures such as an autoimmune diseases in which the body interprets the nanites as a virus and rushes to defend itself creating complications in the subjects immune response system. The main draw back of Biomechanics however remains its price tag. Throughout Insilico, to the modern citizen this technology remains unaffordable unless financed by a corporation. AGIS offers extended contract discounts to mega corps and is capable of offering low grade clones within six weeks.

Manipulating memory engrams to imprint life experiances into androids and clones offer a unique solution to early failures in this field. Modern Biomechanical androids also known as bioroids and high grade clones have shown an increase performance rate of over 47% when imprinted using this method.
